April Newsletter

BACK TO ARCHIVE >>>

Welcome to our April 2014 newsletter for the Make Arma Not War contest. In this month’s newsletter, we’re giving you an update on what’s happening behind-the-scenes, and most importantly, we’re announcing the application starting date!

Applications

On April 29, we’ll enable applications on www.makearmanotwar.com/apply for the ‘Total Modification’, ‘Singleplayer Game Mode’, and ‘Multiplayer Game Mode’ categories. The ‘Addon’ category will be added later – once Arma 3’s Steam Workshop support for Addons has been implemented. This is expected to be ready in May – we’ll inform everyone about the exact date.

To apply for the Make Arma Not War contest, simply visit www.makearmanotwar.com/apply after April 29th, and complete the three steps in the application process. This will create an account, which you can use to edit your entry information later – or to submit even more entries into the contest.

Total Modification

Competing in the Total Modification category? Please note that the submission method for the Total Modification category is slightly different than for the other categories. Instead of the Steam Workshop, we’re using Dropbox for the Total Modification category.

How does this work exactly? Once you have completed your application at www.makearmanotwar.com/apply, we’ll send you the login information for the Make Arma Not War Dropbox. Here you can upload the files needed to play your Total Modification. However, we’ll still ask you to provide a web link as well, where ‘supporters’ can already download and try out your submission.

Contest Milestone Rewards

As we mentioned in our March 2014 newsletter, people will be able to ‘support’ your submission on www.makearmanotwar.com. We have multiple rewards available for entries which reach a certain number of supporters. The exact details will also be explained on the www.makearmanotwar.com/vote page (Coming Soon™), but we currently have the following rewards planned:

What else is happening?

As you probably know, the Arma 3 dev team has recently released the free Zeus DLC, which enables players to assume the role of Game Master and curate the multiplayer experience of other players. The Zeus module itself is available to content creators, and thus might also be of interest for Make Arma Not War contestants. More documentation about the Zeus module can be found on Bohemia Interactive’s Community Wiki.

With regards to applying, please understand that you entry does not need to be finalized when you apply. You have until October 28th to develop and refine your entry. However, by registering before this date, we hope you’ll be able to reap the benefits of early access development - by involving players into your development, to create a better game and a better experience.

We’re very excited to see what everyone has been working on. If you run into any problems, or have a question, be sure to check out the Make Arma Not War FAQ or contact us at support@makearmanotwar.com.
