Welcome to our July 2014 newsletter for the Make Arma Not War contest. As you might know, we've recently enabled applications for the ‘Addon’ category, which means everyone should now be able to enter the Make Arma Not War contest.

Addons

It took a little bit longer than expected, but we’re pleased to announce that Arma 3’s Steam Workshop now also supports ‘Addons’. While the Steam Workshop used to be restricted to Arma 3 scenarios, content creators can now also share their weapons, vehicles, or any other type of Arma 3 addons. These can be uploaded directly to the Steam Workshop via the Arma 3 Tools.

As a result, we’ve also opened the Addons category in the Make Arma Not War contest. If you want to apply, please visit http://makearmanotwar.com/apply and follow the steps. If you’ve already applied, but want to switch your entry to the Addon category, you can do so via ‘Add/Edit Entries’ after you’ve logged in with your account on www.makearmanotwar.com.

Last but not least, as a player, it’s now easier than ever before to install addons. Just browse through the Arma 3 Steam Workshop, and click on ‘Subscribe’ to add the content to your game. And remember to ‘support’ (and ‘vote’ in the Singleplayer category) your favorite Make Arma Not War entries!

Bootcamp

Together with the extended Workshop implementation, we’ve also released the Arma 3 Bootcamp Update. The highlights are the SP Bootcamp prologue campaign, the MP Bootcamp Zeus Scenario, the Virtual Arsenal viewer, and the Virtual Reality training environment. While a large part of the Bootcamp Update is tailored towards new or inexperienced Arma 3 players, it also offers some significant benefits to Arma 3 content creators. Besides the additional new objects, the VR environment is a perfect lightweight testing environment for modders and scripters. By stripping away all distractions, like natural terrain and objects, you can focus on just one thing - ideal for learning, development and testing. Alternatively, the VR environment may even inspire completely new gameplay!
